Okay, it smells the same, despite the name. But it sounds so much
better the way Shakespeare writes it.
Pen Lovers is now Pen Lovers Network. The name change reflects a
deeper, more important change - a change in mindset, in tone, in
approach.
Since its inception, Pen Lovers dot com has been a site dedicated
to collectors of fountain pens. We've talked about pens and nibs
and inks. We've looked at pictures of pens. We've talked to one
another about pens and nibs and inks.
We don't wish to stop being the site dedicated to collectors of
fountain pens. We wish to continue that role.
But we also recognize that most of the visitors (possibly you)
are not avid collectors. Perhaps you're a pen aficionado. Maybe
you appreciate writing instruments, but are more interested in the
art of writing. Maybe you like a handwritten letter. Maybe you have
a passion for the written word. You may be interested in fountain
pens, vintage or new. Or maybe you're interested in Rollerballs
or Ballpoints. Maybe you collect inkwells or pencils.

Maybe (just maybe) you don't accumulate pens as a matter of prestige
and a symbol of affluence. Maybe you love the feel of ink drawn
on paper.
And - while we're on the soapbox - maybe English isn't your Lingua
Franca.
So, you'll be seeing a few changes around here in the coming weeks.
To start, PenLovers.com is now PenLovers.net. Content will start
to be ported to Portuguese, German, French, Spanish and Italian.
(If you think we ought to consider another language, please tell
us).
There will be more content of interest to anyone who loves the written
word - articles on handwriting, pencils, inkwells, papers, penmanship
in public education, penpals, cartooning, and more.
We're gambling that the content will be more relevant, more engaging,
more interesting than the same old pretty pictures.
After all, you can find pretty pictures elsewhere.
We hope you like the change. Please let
us know. |
